Combesgate

Gorgeous Greencliff......

..............was lovely in sunshire and warm weather on 4th August, for the very low tide.

There was an excellent turnout of Coastwise members, with more knowledgeable members sharing their expertise.

See the Programme downloads on the R of the page for the next events.

Pictured on R courtesy of Robin Shrubsole are Psammechinis miliaris (Green or Shore Sea Urchin), with a close-up of the skin between the spines, and Ophlitaspongia papilla (a red encrusting sponge).

Micro-Managing at the Braunton Countryside Centre........

.........which hosted the first Coastwise microscope workshop of the year on 4th May.

These popular events allow members to see the marine life that isn't visible to the naked eye - generally a magnification of only 40X is needed to see a whole new world of living fauna.

When kept in seawater, fauna will keep feeding, and what you don't see on the beach is visible.

There's also a lot of embryo fauna present that usually disappears as it forms part of the marine food chain !
