The Autumn Programmes starts on October 12th at the Barnstaple Library, with Maggs Ashton from the Ilfracombe Sub-Aqua Club, talking about North Devon below the waves.
Maggs is an experienced and knowledgeable underwater photographer, producing beautiful pictures of our marine life.
..............was lovely in sunshire and warm weather on 4th August, for the very low tide.
There was an excellent turnout of Coastwise members, with more knowledgeable members sharing their expertise.

.........which hosted the first Coastwise microscope workshop of the year on 4th May.
These popular events allow members to see the marine life that isn't visible to the naked eye - generally a magnification of only 40X is needed to see a whole new world of living fauna.
When kept in seawater, fauna will keep feeding, and what you don't see on the beach is visible.
There's also a lot of embryo fauna present that usually disappears as it forms part of the marine food chain !
..............or nearly, anyway, but the Coastwise Summer Programmes of shore visits, coastal walks, microscope workshops and surveys definitely is.

..........especially around Braunton (although we know this applies everywhere !) was the message to Coastwise members from Jess Giblett, the newly-appointed Coordinator of the Connect 2 Nature Project based at Braunton Countryside Centre.
