……when out on a fine July day.
Coastwise is in the middle of the summer outdoors and survey programme (see updated version to R), and some members assembled at Georgeham on a warm Thursday. The route followed passes Henry Williamson’s house in Georgeham, and via tracks and minor roads over Pickwell Down, which gives its name to a slate stratum in the local Carboniferous geological sequence. Thence down to the Tarka Trail and North towards Woolacombe.
From the cafe on the Trail, a path leads down to Woolacombe Strand and then members made their way back along the beaach with an informal strandline debris survey.
The picture shows the morning sea mist (‘Haar’) in the process of burning off.
The next event on the programme is a Shoresearch survey at Hele, during the low tide on 11th August.
