Coastwise has received two awards for its activities from the North Devon Conservation Society........

Coastwise North Devon has been awarded two prestigious awards by the North Devon Conservation Society for work on coastal education, conservation, research and campaigning for the marine environment: The President's Shield, and the North Devon AONB Coastal Award for the Natural Environment.

The Society’s President Lady Arran made the presentations (the President's Shield in this picture) on 19th June 2009 to Chair Paula Ferris and External Relations Officer Jill Portsmouth in Barnstaple Guildhall.

Paula says “It is so encouraging to discover that people with a wealth of experience of wonderful local projects find merit in ours, many of which were celebrated at this year’s Award Ceremony alongside ours.   

We are grateful to the NDCS and to Devon Wildlife Trust's Cat Jones for nominating us in what was our first year as a fully constituted local association, a year that saw us work in partnership with the Trust on a joint oral history project that proved most successful.  Hopefully with the endorsement we have now received our programme to serve North Devon’s coast and seas will go from strength to strength”.
